World kidney Day

Kidneys are essential for :
Filtering body fluids so as to remove waste through pee

Balancing body fluids and electrolytes ( essential minerals like sodium and potassium)

Control acid base balance of the blood.
Make glucose if there's not enough in the blood.
Produce hormones called calcitrol and erythropoietin that helps in making blood cells.( this is done through adrenal glands sitting on top of each kidney) 
It also produces cortisol.

However kidney can be damaged 

Chronic Kidney Dieses caused by diabetes or high blood pressure can affect the kidneys 

Kidney cancer or pyolonephritis can affect kidney function.

Kidney stone can as well lead to kidney failure if not treated.

Signs of kidney problem 

Foamy urine
Dry skin
Frequent urination 
Puffy eyes
Swollen ankle
Dark urine
Back pain
